Hi everyone,
Thought I’d send along a few links and such, on the occasion of one of those days when we’re meant to remember about trans people. Our lives, our deaths. Our tenacious visibility, our precarious existence. Important causes. Also a valid exercise any day, to remember such realities.
So, here are some pertinent links to stuff I’ve enjoyed or found of use lately, for your consideration, whether today or any day. Especially if you think (still) that these conversations about gender are about others and not about you, too.
Highly recommend ALOK’s latest appearance on We Can Do Hard Things.
I appreciated this episode of Chris Hayes’ podcast with Judith Butler, whose new book I’m excited to read.
I am grateful for the newsletter Assigned Media, which covers all things trans(phobia).
From a previous newsletter, here are some other gender-related podcasts and other media I recommend.
And to (re)share a few relevant works of my own … my appearance on This American Life about my singing voice. This Esquire essay mourning the trans boyhood I never got. This reflection on being trans out here in a rural place.
Visible, if mostly to birds and trees,
Sandy Ernest Allen
